Give Peace a Chance

All we are saying is give peace a chance. — John Lennon

Our dreams are the hidden heartbeat of the world. It is our dreams that sometimes keep possibilities alive; keep hopes alive. The psychotherapist, Sigmund Freud said that dreams allow us to act out our repressed longings. It is imagination that brings life to our dreams, that allows us to engage in cognitive play: our play at constructing reality. Cognitive play lets us see or feel what it might be like, try things out, and create our world in advance—maybe a world without violence. In a variation of Dr Seuss—perhaps one day we will know peace when we can’t sleep because reality is better than our dreams. If we can dream something is possible, we can work towards making that something happen. Dreaming could be our tomorrow’s reality. Dreaming could be our forecast of the future; it is our trial run of how things will be.

You create your universe as you go along. — Winston Churchill
